Hello and welcome to my new website.

It was over ten years ago that I thought I would have a go at a web page. My first effort was a genuine homepage (called simply the Official Colin MacKenzie Homepage) which eventually included photo albums, history essays, software downloads, ActiveX controls and football videos (amongst others). Despite the intention of the site being merely to share stuff with friends and friends, I eventually had thousands of hits from all over the world.

Thanks to all those who visited my original site, and to your feedback which ranged from people interested in my ScreenRes ActiveX control, someone wanting to get into touch with one of the girls in the photo section, some people wanting me to do programming for them, to someone thinking it was weird I included photos of me and my friends on my website. By far the biggest source of emails was from people reading my history section, particularly the Falklands War section, which included many Argentines, the vast majority of which were complimentary and sent good wishes. Thanks for all your feedback.

So what does this site offer? Well eventually it will include all the same content as before optimised and presented in the new website theme. The intention this time is for this to be a hobby used for me to experiment with different technologies: a kind of playground for me to try stuff out so expect lots of different things. My career as a Technical Architect means I get to design all aspects of a system from the database and queuing to .NET applications with Javascript, CSS and DHTML. I don't want to totally forget my History degree background however, so I will endeavour to repost my historical sections and look at updating some of them.

The power of the web is surely its reach and its amazing to think something I make for myself can be seen all around the world. Thanks for visiting.

Colin MacKenzie
