ScreenRes Active X Control

ScreenRes is an Active X Control that allows you to change the screen resolution at any time in your program and as many times as you want. It can also give you information on what the current resolution is plus loads of other useful bits and bobs. ScreenRes is freeware, meaning it can be freely distributed and used, without any credit to the authors, although in using it as freeware you also agree not to hold the authors responsible in the unlikely event of ScreenRes causing problems on your machine. ScreenRes was programmed using Visual basic .NET and should be compatible with any programming language capable of using Active X Controls. For a more detailed description of the technology behind ScreenRes Click Here

When Do I Need ScreenRes?

If you use several computers that have different Screen Resolutions or want to distribute your programs over the internet for example but want to make sure they are viewed in the same resolution in which they are written, then ScreenRes is the control for you. Maybe you want part of your program to appear in a certain resolution and another in a different resolution. What ever the reason, ScreenRes's ease of use means even if you've never used an Active X control before in your programming changing the screen resolution will be an effortless experience.  If you require any further information Click Here

How Do I Use ScreenRes?

ScreenRes is very simple to use. Simply create a resolution setting and pass it to ScreenRes. Note that not all resolutions will be supported by your graphics cards, but ScreenRes can even tell you if it is supported. The current Screen Resolution can be returned by simply using the commands ScreenWidth or ScreenHeight. For more information on how to use ScreenRes Click Here

The History of ScreenRes

The reason behind the creation of ScreenRes was caused by old Visual Basic programs programmed on a 640 by 480 14' monitors, looking wrong when used on new 800 by 600 17' monitors. To prevent having to to resize all the forms manually an Active X control was developed to change the screen resolution to 640 by 480 and ScreenRes was born. However from these humble beginnings ScreenRes has grown into a programmers multi-tool covering many aspects of the screen display.
